Explanation:
Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR) is the ratio of a bank’s capital in relation to its risk weighted assets and current liabilities. It is decided by central banks and bank regulators to prevent commercial banks from taking excess leverage and becoming insolvent in the process. Also known as capital-to-risk weighted assets ratio (CRAR), it is used to protect depositors and promote the stability and efficiency of financial systems around the world.

Two types of capital are measured: tier one capital, which can absorb losses without a bank being required to cease trading, and tier two capital, which can absorb losses in the event of a winding-up and so provides a lesser degree of protection to depositors. The risk weighted assets take into account credit risk, market risk and operational risk.

व्याख्या:
पूंजी पर्याप्तता अनुपात (सीएआर) एक बैंक की पूंजी का उसकी जोखिम भारित संपत्ति और वर्तमान देनदारियों के संबंध में अनुपात है। वाणिज्यिक बैंकों को अतिरिक्त लीवरेज लेने और प्रक्रिया में दिवालिया होने से रोकने के लिए केंद्रीय बैंकों और बैंक नियामकों द्वारा यह निर्णय लिया जाता है। पूंजी-से-जोखिम भारित संपत्ति अनुपात (सीआरएआर) के रूप में भी जाना जाता है, इसका उपयोग जमाकर्ताओं की सुरक्षा और दुनिया भर में वित्तीय प्रणालियों की स्थिरता और दक्षता को बढ़ावा देने के लिए किया जाता है।

दो प्रकार की पूंजी को मापा जाता है: टियर वन कैपिटल, जो बिना किसी बैंक के ट्रेडिंग बंद किए हुए नुकसान को अवशोषित कर सकती है, और टियर टू कैपिटल, जो वाइंडिंग-अप की स्थिति में नुकसान को अवशोषित कर सकती है और इसलिए कम सुरक्षा प्रदान करती है। जमाकर्ता जोखिम भारित परिसंपत्तियां क्रेडिट जोखिम, बाजार जोखिम और परिचालन जोखिम को ध्यान में रखती हैं।
